A stylish lodge located on a mountain in Australia’s Victorian Ski Alps, Astra Falls Creek offers the perfect escape for anyone wanting to cosy up while it’s cold outside with a great stack of books. Perfectly embodying rustic charm with ski chic, this alpine lodge has been beautifully styled with carefully chosen Australian furnishings, and boasts a well-stocked library overlooking the snow. What better place to curl up with a thick tome and a piping hot drink?

Astra Lodge is the perfect choice for those of you wanting a more upscale winter wonderland holiday.

Throw in roasted marshmallows, games of Uno and a line of ready to throw snowballs and you have the added benefit of an Australian luxury ski chalet that welcomes and caters for those of us who travel with children.

If you’ve ever had the chance to enjoy the luxurious chalets of Chamonix or resorts of Rauris, then you will feel right at home  in Astra Lodge…

The acute attention to detail for the smallest of comforts – heated balconies (!) and a magnesium pool to soak aching post-ski muscles – indicates how much owners Seumas Dawes and Rosie Seaton strived to build something to rival Europe’s best alpine accommodation…

The cocktail bar is where the Astra comes into its own – deep leather chairs surrounded by exposed wood and stonework, carrying the rugged appeal of an old hunting lodge.

We have been lucky enough to stay at a number of ski lodges in both Australia and the USA. The latest renovations at the Astra are world class!!!

The small but extremely well appointed studio suite was super, perfect for a few days away. The Lodge has all the facilities you would expect from a first class stay of this type. The in-house day spa was a superb addition!

The Astra must be one of the best ski lodges now in Australia – love it! We will be back!

Astra, is a wonderful experience. We were there for only 5 nights but every moment was great. Picked up in a very new oversaw vehicle too Astra.

Rooms are modern have everything possible. The ski locker room was the most modern fabulous, practical facility. The lounge and bar full of fun. The restaurant, devious and very satisfying and even provide marshmallows for the fire.

A special room for kids, with video games, books and board games…great when weather has everyone inside. Love it.

“Located within the heart of Falls Creek Village, Astra Lodge is just a short private over-snow ride away from village parking. Boasting interiors that feature local design, the materials are robust and natural.

Rosy Seaton – who co-owns the lodge with her husband, Seumas – grew up locally. Rosy has placed focus on Astra achieving world-class service while remaining family friendly, with a charming intimacy that puts the lodge in a league of its own.”

“We understand how important family time is on a ski holiday, when the kids aren’t in ski school they can enjoy playing in the communal kids’ room or toasting marshmallows on the open fire in the Astra lounge,” explains Rosy.

“Massages, physiotherapy treatments and wet and dry saunas will all help to re-energise weary skiers and riders at the end of the day. The day spa at Astra lets guests relax with a dram of whisky with the barber over a hot towel shave and moustache groom, or a glass of champagne while the onsite hair stylist completes a fresh blow dry or cut to help remove the dreaded helmet hair.”

“The Astra Lodge in Falls Creek provided the perfect long weekend escape and a chance for some spring skiing for me and my husband. On arrival – as it was late in the season, and the lodge was not full, we were told we had been upgraded to a suite – without even asking!! The room was gorgeous. Simple yet beautiful.

The breakfasts were included and amazing. The restaurant and bar PERFECT for apres ski drinks and the food delicious.

We will be back and will tell all our friends about our wonderful experience at Astra Lodge.”

“Couldn’t fault a single thing. Hands down the most amazing place to stay while at Falls Creek. They have literally thought of everything. Impeccable accommodation, and service to match. The awesome breakfast is included but you will also want to stay for appres and dinner too because the food is AMAZING. We would love to come back.”

-Jasmine, Booking.com

“Astra Lodge, a quick ski from Falls Creek’s main chairlift, also has a cosy library with views of rolling ridges through snow gums, along with a day spa…”

“There is also a smart and welcoming children’s room for days when Mother Nature is in a bad mood and it’s best to stay indoors.”

“Although Astra Lodge is a fine example of contemporary on-trend alpine design, the owners have stayed true to good old-fashioned mountain hospitality. When in residence, it’s not uncommon to see Seaton and Dawes mingling with guests and asking about their stay. They may be self-described “accidental hoteliers”, but they clearly have found their calling.”

-Jennifer Ennion, The Australian

“Vibe of hotel was great, friendly hosts and staff, beautiful bar area to relax in. We always travel with our children and the hotel was very welcoming of our kids. The beds were absolutely fantastic – I wanted to strip one before we left to see what brand they were but forgot!

We loved it and hope to go back again. We will request a room on the other side of the hotel so we have an alternative view next time around.”

-CATE, Booking.com

-Lucy, Booking.com

“Absolutely stunning food, definitely recommended. We stayed a few streets down from the Astra and it was a lovely short stroll down well lit streets. Our kids were well looked after and we left very happy.”

-Josetta, Trip Advisor

“The staff was very friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make our stay perfect! The location was excellent, only a 2 minute walk to the slopes. Beautiful spa and restaurant.
